My Astrophotography Gallery

Astrophotography is difficult - and not only because you have to stay up all night. An interest in astronomy and of taking pictures of objects in the sky has always been an attraction, but only in the last few years have I realized what “astrophotography” is truly about.

Here is a collection of nebula and galaxies that I have taken in 2024 and 2025. All here were taken under very bright metro skies. As of April, 2026 I have moved away from the city to a home under dark skies. I have great expectations for continuing to improve my craft and taking more naps during the day.

Colors of the Moon?

A photographic investigation

Hummingbirds Return to the Carolinas

Every year the hummingbirds show up - if you have plenty of flowers, or plenty of feeders. These are a few of my favorites, all taken at our home in the Charlotte, NC area. Their schedule is amazingly consistent - the first arrivals spotted between April 2 and 12 and the last departures spotted between October 6 and 15 over the last 12 years.
